Dr John Robson Royal Flying Doctor Service Mt Isa, Queensland
John is married with three boys under 8. He has been a registrar with RVTS and has worked for Mt Isa RFDS since July 2006. He spends his days retrieving patients or doing Clinics. When retrieving people he heads out with a nurse and a pilot to collect them from a health centre or their nearest airstrip, returning to either Mount Isa or Townsville. Clinic days consist of loading the aircraft ready for a clinic in either a health facility or a 'donga' (shed with power!) and setting up for a day to see patients.
Dr Younes Ismail Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service Coonamble, New South Wales
Younes, originally from Syria, has been a registrar with RVTS since May 2007. Younes has practiced extensively throughout NSW and has settled in Coonamble for the last 5 months. Coonamble, on the banks of the Castlereagh River 590km from Sydney, is primarily an agricultural community of approximately 3000 residents. Younes is kept very busy and sees approximately 25 -30 patients a day.
Dr Emilie Willcox Yuendumu Clinic Yuendumu, Northern Territory
Emilie joined RVTS in March 2008 and is based in Yuendumu, 263kms NW of Alice Springs, and also travelling to Nyrripi, 450kms north-west of Alice Springs. Emilie does a mixture of management of chronic disease and acute medicine in these aboriginal communities. "My passion is the beautiful environment in which we live, and working towards equality in health care for indigenous australians."
