TRAINING BEGINS

Training officially begins with the first teletutorials on Wednesday 1 February. A big welcome goes out to the new 2012 cohort. And welcome back to those lining up for another year of teletutorials, workshops and remote supervision. Don't forget to consult the teletutorial schedule below for dates and times.

ALUMNI GROUP

The inaugural get together of the RVTS alumni will be a weekend event in Brisbane 19-20 May. This event will include some CPD activities and a celebration of RVTS' achievements over the past 12 years. Past registrars who haven't yet expressed their interest in the group or in attending the weekend can do so by filling in this form.

REMOTE REFLECTIONS

The 2011 edition of Remote Reflections - the Year in Review will arrive in many of your snail-mail boxes within the next couple of weeks. Whatever you do, don't write it off as junk mail and banish it to the recycle bin. It's full of useful information that might one day be useful in the hotseat of the TV gameshow, Who wants to be a millionaire?". Your final question for one million dollars is...

Exam Preparation

AMC ClINICAL EXAM

RVTS has developed a program to assist registrars with their AMC clinical exam preparation.

Weekly role playing sessions are run via Skype and have just begun so it's not too late to join. These will run for a minimum of 10 weeks so registrars can become proficient and comfortable doing role plays. Personalised feedback and exam technique tips are included.

A study guide has also been developed, comprising a 16 week program for private study. The guide is designed to be used as an adjunct to the role plays, however it is also available to registrars who choose not to do the role playing sessions.

STUDY GROUP

The study group has kicked off for 2012. It runs for 1.5 hours on Tuesday evenings and starts at 7:30 (AEDT). The current sessions run until early March, with future sessions starting up 2 months prior to exam dates. The content is specific to the upcoming exam and the needs of the group.

Ruth Johnston has officially handed over the reins of the group to new registrar medical educator, Anna Tervit. Anna has plenty of experience preparing for assessments, having recently completed her FRACGP and FACRRM, and with a FARGP in front of the panel as we speak.

Upcoming Events

MARCH WORKSHOP

The first workshop of 2012 is at the Swiss Grand Bondi Beach 19-23 March. Registrars in the 2012 cohort start a day earlier on the 18th. Registrars and supervisors who haven't returned their registration form to Doris Berger please do so ASAP.

OCTOBER WORKSHOP

EXAM ENROLMENT DATES

The next enrolment period for 2012.2 RACGP examinations commences on Monday 19th March 2012. Enrolment deadlines are as follows: AKT (8 June), KFP (8 June) OSCE (24 August). Visit the RACGP website for exam dates.

The ACRRM exam enrolment deadlines for 2012 are: MSF (anytime), miniCEX (13 January or 8 July), MCQ (6 July), StAMPS (3 February or 17 August). Visit the ACRRM website for exam dates.

A reminder to registrars that teletutorials start at 8:30pm AEDT on your assigned evening.

Registrars are also encouraged to send their case presentations in as early as possible. You can't send them too early! It takes time to prepare these for distribution so please email them to Amanda Hollands a minimum of 2 weeks prior to your presentation.
