About RVTS: The Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS) is a unique vocational training program designed to empower doctors who, under ordinary circumstances, could not complete vocational training without leaving their communities. RVTS offers specialised training that qualifies its graduates for vocational training awards through RACGP and ACRRM, and for Vocational Recognition (VR) with Medicare Australia. Our program is tailored to accommodate the particular circumstances of remote practice and is characterised by its remote supervision model, innovative use of information and telecommunication technologies, individualised learning programs, population health focus, and community involvement.
This role is a maternity leave cover position , part-time, four days per week, with the potential to transition into a permanent position. Hours do increase to full-time during peak recruitment periods.
Position Description: As the Registrar Recruitment and Selection Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the coordination and delivery of the RVTS recruitment program. Your responsibilities will include managing the recruitment process, promoting the RVTS program to stakeholders, and supporting marketing efforts. You will also coordinate trade shows and events, ensuring the program’s visibility. This role demands excellent organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the registrar recruitment process, ensuring adherence to timelines.
- Prepare applicant guides and application forms for approval.
- Collaborate with relevant staff to facilitate the application process.
- Manage application periods, assess eligibility, and collect required documentation.
- Prepare and present applicants for the selection working group.
- Coordinate interviews and communicate selection outcomes.
- Provide marketing and communication support related to the RVTS marketing strategy.
- Manage an expression of interest database for RVTS program inquiries.
- Coordinate promotional activities to stakeholders.
- Register RVTS trade displays for approved events and coordinate booth requirements.
- Handle packing and transport of conference and trade show equipment.
- Maintain and order trade merchandise as needed.
- Maintain accurate records for all recruitment rounds.
- Coordinate the GP training incentives program
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent computer skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work extra hours during peak recruitment periods.
- National travel availability for RVTS workshops and events.
- Experience in managing recruitment and/or marketing campaigns is highly desirable.
- Background in health or medical education fields is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and online communication software is advantageous.

RVTS is a vocational training program for medical practitioners in remote and isolated communities throughout rural and remote Australia.
Clinical Teaching Visits provide an opportunity to observe registrars working in their practices.
These visits are particularly important for RVTS registrars working in solo or isolated practices who cannot access feedback from practice colleagues.To be considered eligible, applicants must:
- Hold Fellowship with either the RACGP (FRACGP) and/or ACRRM (FACRRM)
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a General Practitioner, including preferably at least two (2) years of post-fellowship practice in Australia
- Hold current, unconditional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Maintain current medical indemnity insurance
- Be recognised by peers as an excellent clinician, supported by a verbal recommendation from a known peer or medical educator
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in medical education, evidenced through relevant experience listed in their CV or confirmed by a professional referee

RVTS Registrars work in rural and remote locations or in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and are matched with a supervisor for the duration of their training.
The supervisor should:
- Be unconditionally registered with AHPRA
- Be a Fellow of ACRRM or RACGP
- Have experience in rural and remote general practice for registrars in the Remote Stream or experience in Aboriginal Health for the AMS Stream
- Have past or present experience in supervising/mentoring
- Have a current ALS certificate
- Have appropriate medical indemnity cover, and
- Not have a conflict of interest (e.g., personal interest in registrar’s training location).
It is preferable, but not mandatory, that the supervisor practises in the same region and state as the registrar.
RVTS supervisors cannot have more than two registrars to ensure they are available to undertake all registrar training activities.
