I don’t have to tell you that much has happened in the last month since our last post!

COVID-19 is front and centre stage.

We are encouraged to keep abreast of information relating not only to management of cases of COVID-19, but also prevention of spread of the virus, and self-care.

Many organisations are providing members with information, and RVTS is supporting their community by facilitating access to reliable information via the DoH and College websites.

The RVTS website homepage now has a ‘COVID-19 (coronavirus) Information’ section at the top: use this link to find the most up-to-date information.

It’s recommended that you view these resources regularly, as recommendations are changing quickly!

Today we’re focussing on video or teleconferencing skills. Many resources are already available to support GPs in this new consultation style.

We will be focussing on the actual consultation process. We need to consider issues like:

  • Confidentiality
  • Consultation process
  • Considering differentials
  • Examination tips for teleconsultations
  • Documentation
  • Medicolegal risks

Listen to the discussion here:

This is by no means a comprehensive look at teleconsultations, but a brief overview to (hopefully) encourage you to consider how you are going to approach this new way of consulting over the next few weeks and months.

Review the references below for more information, and I have no doubt that more resources will become available over the next few months.

All the best and stay safe.
